Kimono is a Japanese native garment, and there are many different types.

HYOTTOKO and TENKO　~火男と天狐~

This Japanese pattern is based on traditional masks used in Japanese festivals.

These masks are called Hyottoko and Tenko.

【Hyottoko】
It is said that hi-oto is a representation of the face of a man who builds a fire in a kamado.

He blows fire with a bamboo tube so hard that even when the tube is removed from his mouth, a peculiar look remains in his mouth, and his mouth has a pointed expression.
Such a hard working Hyottoko is,
It is believed to bring prosperity to the family.

【Tenko】
Tenko(The celestial fox) is a fox with white fur.

Since ancient times, the Japanese have revered the fox, which eats rats that destroy crops, and is enshrined as a messenger of the gods at Inari shrines in Japan.

One theory says that a fox that lives 1,000 years becomes a divine beast called tenkitsune.

Like the gods, the white fox is invisible to the human eye and is believed to bring happiness to people.

日本のお祭りに使用する伝統的なお面をモチーフにした和柄です。

「ひょっとこ」と「天狐」と呼ばれるお面です。

【ひょっとこ】
 火男とはかまどの火を焚く男の顔を表現したものと言われています。

一生懸命竹筒で火を吹き、竹筒を口から離しても口にクセが残るほどで、口を尖らせた表情をしています。

そんな一生懸命働くひょっとこは、家内繁栄を招くという意味が込められています。

【天狐】
天狐とは白い毛を持つ狐のことで、日本人は古来より農作物を荒らすネズミを食べてくれる狐を崇め、日本の稲荷神社では神の使いとして祀られています。

一説には1000年生きた狐が天狐という神獣になるとも言われています。

白い毛を持つ白狐は、神様と同じように人の目には見えない存在で、人々に幸せをもたらすと考えられています。
